Now that Im healthy
Yea yea, Im all better. woo.

I was thinking of going to Hartford to go look at dead bodies tomorrow. Anyone wanna come? It seems fascinating and I wanna go, but part of me doesnt wanna go to a dead body show alone, seems kinda creepy.

Healthy is good. :-)

The whole Bodies Revealed thing seems kinda ghoulish and creepy to me. I'm all for supporting art, but this seems a bit like exploitation of the dead -- I just couldn't bring myself to drop $25 to $30 on it. If it was for educational purposes it might be different, but the people behind this are making a lot of money. Anyway, this is just my opinion and I don't expect anyone to agree with me.

It isn't art, Rand, it is for educational purposes. Jarad and I went today, Mom and my sisters went in New York last year. Every part of the exhibit has a notecard explaining parts of the body, how they work and connect to each other, maladies and what causes them. Some of the bodies are posed, true, but that's to show things like muscle connection and the ciculatory system, etc.

Seriously? From the commercials I've seen on TV it totally looked like a creepy art exhibit. How did you like it?

Obviously without cable I have no idea what the commercials looked like, but as a bio. major it was pretty interesting. A little creepy, of course, and it would have been better had it been bigger - with more examples of maladies and things. Pretty much, what Dawn said. Jarad and I had a day free so it was nice to get out and do something interesting, we walked to the Civic Centre and back and I got to talk all smart biology talk at him.

Ha! I actually did almost the same thing to Sean! We didn't want to pay for parking, so we parked at Pangela's house and walked from there. And he was asking me questions that I could actually answer, because I'm taking Anatomy and Physiology in skool right now. So yeah, that was a highlight.

Actually, to tell you the truth it was kinda boring. Sean and I went last month, and even with our student ID's it is NOT worth the $22 each that we paid. I'd say $10 and it would be worth it.

The bodies are all the same. I'm serious....it's like they took the bodies from the same "tribe" or something....because they are not American. They look like maybe African or possibly Asian....it's hard to tell without the skin. They are all very short, and pretty much exactly the same.

And there's only one whole body in each room. Each room is dedicated to a different body system...skeletel, muscle, reproductive, ect. Everything else in the rooms are preserved organs or limbs.

It is semi-educational, though. They've got little plaques with blurbs about the organs and how they relate to the body system in with the organs and next to the bodies.

The New York Exhibit was bigger than the one in Hartford and had more whole bodies, so I hear. And yes, the bodies are all Asian. The main controversy over the show (from what I have heard) is that people felt the families being paid for the bodies' were being exploited since they were too poor to say 'no'.

Good to know. Either way.....not worth 22 bucks.

Yeah Karen said that too when she went, that it wasn't worth the money.
